- Never trust hired chefs to do their job in the Sims 4. They almost always fail miserably at it.
- I find it really variable. Sometimes I hire a chef and I get masses of mac and cheese for my upscale wedding, and no cake. Other times they'll make about 5 cakes and no other actual food. I've found it's always best to have a sim make a cake beforehand and put it in their inventory, and then you can use it in any lot. I've also found that if you put the wedding topper on before you put it in their inventory, it'll stop sims from autonomously eating a slice of cake before you've had a chance to use it for your event!
- They never have and probably never will - at least when I play - I've given up on weddings - I have them elope.
- atreya33Seasoned AceThis makes me long for the sims 2 era where sims could just buy a cake from the catalogue. (though that might have been for birthday cakes, not wedding cakes?)
In sims 4 I mostly have a sim bake the cake before the wedding or birthday party. - My caterers don’t even arrive until the weddings almost done. And then they’ll make pancakes :D nobody eats pancakes at a wedding. :D
I usually just have my sims bring a baked cake in their inventory with them that they can put out.
They rank almost as low as hired bartenders in uselessness - I hope they update so sims can request the caterers to cook anything on the menu.
- At this point weddings are probably more broken than Dine Out and that's saying something.
- permanentrose537Seasoned RookieYeah I never hire a caterer or mixologist for events like weddings since they tend to never show up or do their job. In fact, for social events that require things like that, I have a few sims on hand in my gallery with specific skills I’ll move into my active household to do things like take photos, cook and tend the bar so much sims don’t have to worry about it
- IF your hired chef actually makes the wedding cake, put it in your inventory!!! I left it where it was and had too much faith in the sims to not touch it....I couldn't get gold on the event because the couple getting married couldnt cut the cake...because someone else ALREADY DID.... :|

Or just add the wedding topper. No one will touch cake that has a wedding topper or birthday candles.
