LOL at the pausing. I do that quite a lot too, especially if I need my Sim to complete a specific task/goal.
Occasionally, I like to play a casanova (usually a man, sometimes a woman). They might start out with one steady partner and then just start romancing anyone and everyone (including same gender). Other times I will start with a heterosexual couple where one or both partners find new partners of the same gender instead.
There's usually not a lot of drama, though. I don't care much for making jealous or mean Sims. Except that one time, when I wanted to kill off a Sim through anger. She had the jealous trait and I had her partner romance someone in front of her. >:)
