Weirdness!

I have a young couple who have two little boys, both toddlers 3-4 Sim days apart. The Husband decides it would be a good thing for he and his wife to do some volunteer work, a desire he's had for quite some time. So, they go off to visit the Old Folks Home, or whatever it is. One of the boys is asleep, but the other one is not. The pop-up asks if a nanny should be hired, or should the boys be sent to Daycare. I select Daycare, since it's free. The youngest of the two disappears mid-stride and then the older boy, who was fast asleep, disappears from his little bed.

Since the volunteering is a Rabbit Hole, I keep the camera on the house itself. Normally, I hire a nanny which gives me, the player, something to do. Not this time, however. What I found very strange and a tad weird, is suddenly, about halfway through the allotted time for the parents' service to the elderly, I hear one of the toddlers giggle. I panned the camera around, thinking the parents must have returned. Nobody is on the front lawn. Yet, the child's giggle was loud enough for him to have been on the lot. Weirdness.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Please share your moments of weirdness or just unexpected moments in this game. :)

How are these localthumbcaches able to affect game play in the first place? Do they have some sort of tie-in with the game somehow?

I think it clogs up the works in its own way. I realize I'm not even close to true tech speak with that, but perhaps somebody who really knows might better explain it. :open_mouth:

Sometimes these cache files can become corrupt and need to be deleted.

To delete the bad cache files, you must find:

    localthumbcache.package

    It's located in:

Electronic Arts > The Sims 4

Delete the old cache file - new Un-corrupted ones will automatically spawn.

If it doesn't remedy the situation, try:

    1. open Origin and go to your Game Library
    2. right click on Sims4 and select "repair"

If it STILL buggy, you may need to re-install your Sims game. I'd recommend backing up my "saves" folder (and "mods", if you got any), before you try this. Nothing worse than losing your Sims legacy because of a buggy game (hopefully, it's not in your game family file)!

Good luck to you (and anyone else, who might be having the same problem)!

But here's the problem. How do you know which localthumbcaches are corrupt, and which ones aren't? I mean they all can't be corrupt, can they?
  • I always delete the localthumbcache files before I play my game. I've never seen the localthumbcache package, to be honest.

Yes, actually, though it wasn't giggling. Sometimes, especially in big houses, I can hear voices seemingly coming from the walls.

You're either my cousin who likes to jest, or you've experienced this. :open_mouth:

I swear it on my bowl. I have experienced this multiple times, actually. I could never actually find out where they were coming from, though. I had always assumed it was just from Sims on the lot and the game, for some reason, was amplifying their voices.

I have taken a look at that a couple of times in the past, and what I found there left me wondering what does any of this have to do with the game at all. Even to this day, I'm still wondering why does The Sims 4 even have such a file folder in it's folder at all.

I went back and took a look at what was in my computer's trash can, before I emptied it. Lo, and behold, the localthumbcache is a Package! My bad. I also, wonder what its purpose is.
