What age do you play a character? Considering child up

Hi all, I've been curious about this. I usually always play a young adult up but have trouble letting go due to feeling attached. I was thinking of maybe having two sims I really like have a child...

Like Sharonia above me says, I play them all. When I find two sims I really like I play them into adulthood then have them start a family and play the family from birth on up, choose the one I like the best from the children and play that one and repeat the cycle. My play style fits very well with legacies because of that, so I do a lot of those.
