I appreciate the information. I was aware there is an agreement you have to consent to when you upload your content to the gallery, but this seems like an incredibly flawed system. Maybe it doesn't matter that much because it's a video game, but plagiarism/theft of creations is so wrong and I can't believe that Maxis/EA condones it/legally allows it, when the creators contribute so much to the community and game itself.
That being said, I still feel like Gurus don't necessarily look at it like hoarding and owning the creations, but I understand that the company makes these grants not the Gurus themselves who appreciate and encourage creativity. Oh well. C'est la vie.
