You're not alone, I'm mean to sims too. Recently i was playing a sim that is doing all the aspirations and with one of the mean aspirations you need to witness a sim die and the grilled cheese aspiration require you to talk about grilled cheese with the grim reaper. I decided one of my others sims would have to pay the price. I drowned him but when grim showed up I didn't have the option to talk about grilled cheese. Apparently it doesn't work if you started the aspiration in another save, so I has to have him eat more grilled cheese to unlock the interaction again. So, the other sim died for nothing.
Contemplating who my next victim will be. I can be mean to my sims but not all of them, some are exempt XD
Most of my most recent sims are in fact evil, mean etc and have most bad parenthood traits. It's fun to play a mean sim sometimes. Only drawback is that even the sims I want them to be friends with doesn't like them. I had to move out my vampire from my main household because no one liked him. Even the nicest of sim can't stand him.
