What Are Your "Bad Simming Behaviors"?

My main 2 are that I either a) ignore everyone and only ever do things with my Sim, excluding when I go partner hunting or to work if I have a Get To Work career. I never really leave the house, and I usually make them have the loner trait XD b) get bored of every save I make and just start over each time... usually before getting very far in their lives.

After creating my atleast 5th geek sim, I noticed that I'm using this trait far too often...I think that's another bad habit, using the same traits all over again. The loner trait is also really high up on my list of most used traits.

Oh boy, I agree. I must break out of my comfort zone! :D My problem, if I don't get attached, I don't play them...biga bada habit.

I'm so proud of myself! I released all but 17 of my families into NPC land. I kept those 17 because they were already pretty well established, and let go the newer ones that I hadn't really gotten attached to yet. They're still in the game for my sims to interact with, so I have to resist the urge to put them back in a house & back into play, especially since some of them were a very tough decision! NPC aging is on though, so hopefully time will take care of that concern.

I start way too many new saves. I get bored with one game or inspired to create new sims and so I end up with...many, many save games with sims that go nowhere.

I get excited about advancing into the next generation, but as soon as the sims have their babies, I move onto a different game because I don't like playing with babies or toddlers, and I don't want to age them up prematurely.

I walk away from the computer mid-game without pausing, much to my spouse's chagrin.

Probably my worst simming behavior is not letting anything bad happen to my sims. Like, ever. I over-protect them something awful. Every need bar is green almost all the time, lol. I probably miss stuff by playing that way. I remember playing Sims 2 with someone once and she was letting her sims take care of all of their own needs, not helping them at all. They ran out of food and she wanted to see if they would order food on their own without her telling them to. They didn't, but they did go out to the street with a sign and hold out a cup, begging for simoleons. I would have never known that animation even existed!

All the sims I make end up looking about the same, and then when I play a legacy family I tend to prefer the kids who are like a clone of their parent (who I designed in CAS). This means all the sims I play end up kinda looking the same. I'm trying to avoid that by sticking to the "firstborn is the heir" rule and starting my legacy with a premade townie or randomized sim, but it's sooooo hard for me lol.

I. TAKE. TOO. MANY. SCREENSHOTS. DEAR LORD.

Sometimes I'll just keep pausing and unpausing the game just to take plenty of screenies and capture all the nice moments. All of them.

My most active simming months produced uh, more than a thousand screenshots each. It's ridiculous. But I love my sims, I love taking pictures of my gameplay, of pretty much all the neat things that happen, and going through old screenshots kinda does tell a story, so I'm not really complaining too much. I do get worried about the space on my computer, though. Hence why I'm calling it a bad habit. And with how expressive Sims 4 sims are, that just compels me to take even more screenshots. So many screenshots...

Another bad habit of mine that I can think of is a Sims 3 one. Testingcheatsenabled true. Oh, they have bad moodlets? Who has time for getting food and taking a dump! Shift click them away! Shoo!

Admittedly this tends to happen more in my larger households, where things get laggy anyway. They're likely gonna pee themselves before they reach the toilet unless I help them. So I do have my reasons for this. I do try to stay reasonable. If they got a curse, I let them have the curse until I cure them manually, because that's actually interesting gameplay.
But still.

Playing The Sims 4 again just reminds me how much I cheated with everyone's needs. Because now I can't do that, apparently.

Can't relate more to everything you just said. I also take so many screenshots, it's always going like pause-->walls up--->take screenshot -->wait a few seconds ---> repeat.

I also catch myself cheating more and more since I'm playing TS3 again. For TS4, I use the UI Extension Mod, with which I can just right-click the moodlets so they disappear, or click on the needs bars to fill them. I can even set relationships with it the way I want (It's good when I already have a storyline in mind and don't want to waste time getting all the relationships up. You can also set how much money you want your family to have. It's definitely a mod I can recommend to everyone! :)
