This has been a great thread for me to follow, because I've been a bit stumped about what to do with this pack. To be honest, I'm still not clear on what the actual pros and cons are for using the new small business setup versus using our previous retail system, but hopefully the livestream will shed some additional light. Best case scenario, it turns out that some businesses are better suited to one system and others to the other.
I definitely see some uses in my game for the ticket machine. For one thing, ever since Growing Together, I have wanted to take the movie theater shell and add it to a lot where I build a non-rabbit-hole movie theater alongside (or behind) it. A ticket machine for admission would be wonderful for that. Similarly, I have long planned to add a drive-in movie theater once I can find the right lot in the right world. (Maybe once I finally buy Lovestruck? Or if we get another beach world at some point?) Especially if we eventually get a Cars pack. So a ticket machine will also be great for that business, and... I will likely add one to some, but not all, of my museums.
I'll have to give it some more thought, but I definitely see using the home business feature in a few places, as well. I like the idea of a little apartment over a retail shop, and I love the idea someone mentioned above of using one of the homes in Ravenwood for a metaphysical/paranormal home business. Or even just adding a ticket machine and doing tarot readings?
I've also been toying for a while now with how to set up a law office, as I've heard people say before that you can have your lawyer sims work from home, and I'd love to set up a cute office for them. I have a couple of sims who are in high school now, but the ultimate plan has always been to make them lawyers. I was so excited for them to add that career (mine IRL), but I didn't love the way they've set up the career paths, so I have put it off. But... there might be some features here that would make it more interesting for me. I'll have to see once I actually have the pack.
Other than that, there are several stores I have either set up already or planned for my sims: art galleries, a book store, bakeries, a department store, a jewelry store, a camping goods store, a wine shop, a potion shop, etc. (and now, I want to have a pottery shop and a candy store). I do also wonder whether it might give me an opportunity to update my grocery store/takeaway shop in Henford. I'm just still not sure whether one system offers more of an advantage over the other, and likely won't be until I actually play around with it. But, at least now I'm a bit more motivated to go ahead and buy it and see. I just hope there aren't major compatibility issues with GTW.
amapola76A law office is a brilliant idea! I can't wait to live above a bookstore.

Me too. I will probably own a few bookstores and have poetry classes and open mike night.

Oh, that's a great thought! My Mortimer Goth already owns a bookstore using the existing retail system, but I'd love to add events into the mix. I'm just afraid that changing the lot type would break everything.

I have many lots in my game ready for this EP. I'm going to gamble and hope that bugs in For Rent get fixed in the upcoming patch. I have not had any problems changing lot types in my game even with For Rent installed.
The problem(s) that I have with For Rent are landlord gameplay and rental events that occur in the game along with rent/billing prices.
If B&H is anything like For Rent then they have to fix one EP to have the other EP's gameplay exist together.
