So sims born in game will still objects at birth? A bit disappointing that the devs don't want or can't change this principle. Although the 'babies are just objects' concept won't be gone as it seems, I am still excited about this update.
Just a few moments ago I had my sim check on her baby brother and I tried to see his name (he was born through neighbourhood stories) and I could not find it. I was hovering the mouse over the baby while she was holding him in her arms to give him a bottle. Turns out I needed to hover the mouse over the crib and not the baby to see the name. I should have known. I will see if I can hold off growing up this little guy until the update.
I'm not worried. RL babies are pretty immobile in the beginning anyway. They pretty much eat, poop, and sleep all day. It's a 24/7 proposition in the beginning. Very little sleep for the caretaker(s). If and I say IF you're lucky, the baby might start sleeping through the nights by six weeks of age. I would imagine this time as an object may be shortened, too. Then the infant stage will take over. (Still curious to see how this will happen.) Don't forget they just did a major overhaul on the age-span of Teens and YAs, too. They probably have this all worked out and only need click a button, activate a code, or whatever it takes to start something in the game.
I'm just excited that at least part of that first year of life will be unencumbered by a bassinet. I'm looking forward to it and wish with all of my heart it comes sooner than later.
