I think those are just different colloquial terms in different countries or regions for the same thing. :) Lots of people call them playpens where I live, although as GalacticGal noted, a popular brand name in the US is Pak 'n' Play. But it's all more or less the same thing.
I think a play pen in the U.S. is a little bit bigger than a pack ‘n’ play and square rather than rectangular….but, all are pretty much the same. I hope we get a wooden crib as well, if not with babies then in a generations pack for them.
I'm not even sure they sell what was an actual playpen anymore. At least I've not seen them anywhere. My parents had a wooden square one that they got when I was born, but that was back in 1955. It folded up, so they kept it. I was able to use it for my three kids. Gone are those days. Mostly it's the Pak 'N' Play but that's because they're smaller and more readily totable. My mom had one at her place, and eventually she purchased a used swing to have at their house when my kids were little.
