What are your thoughts on how the new freed babies will work?

I am personally over the moon happy with our freed babies and can not wait until they get here next year <3 But since we only had a glimpse of them and not much information I am wondering what everyone is thinking, how they will be incorporated into our existing game. This is my thoughts.

Had a big think and I think they might completely replace the babies, but they might work similar to Toddlers, where they have to sort of skill up (could be hidden skill) to do better, for example like the toddlers babble then talk, wonky walking then walking and then almost running and so on and on.

I am thinking they might start off as just drinking and sleeping and then perhaps sitting up and then crawling, they seemed smaller than the toddlers but not much bigger than our existing babies. I am so excited for them, I know they will be fun no matter how they are introduced into the game, just thought I would ask everyone else's thoughts as well :)

I do hope we get some news soon, even if just how they will be added to the game and perhaps another little clip of their adorable cuteness <3

  • I’m really happy and excited they are finally updating the babies, I just hope they make them exactly like how we had them in the Sims 2, being able to pick them up and walk them around the house, get them a milk bottle out of the fridge.
  • I don't much care for babies to be honest, but I'm open to see what the update is like. Maybe I will end up liking it!

Others really hated Toddlers until they dropped in Sims4. I'm hoping those of us who wanted untethered babies will be delighted with the Infants they're working on. :) Always hopeful.
  • So, we know that the freed babies will technically be an added life stage. What more do we know?

Because such a baby lifestage would probably only last for 1 simyear, maybe 2, I assume there won't be any auto aging. I play rotationally anyway, so I will need to force them growing up to Toddler stage. I really hope a cake will not be necessary, my sims eat enough cake already, and if I don't feel like playing babyies and hardly toddlers it will feel like wasted gaming time to have the blow out candles twice to reach childhood. I know we can use the same cake.

I hope the baby-in-crib will have two options: "Age up to baby" or "Age up to toddler".

Looking forward to play the free baby in some houeholds, but can't focus on them in all 100+ houses.
  • There's quite a lot of discussion of what we might see in this thread.

ETA: If this post doesn't make sense it was a response to the above post which started a new thread. ?

Thanks, I missed this thread - eager to read it all :)
  • They're staying in their cribs regardless. I can't stand losing the babies, so they stay in the cribs until they become toddlers. I've done it before and I'll keep doing it.

Why not create a 'playpen' and place them in there until it's nap time? Had to do that with RL babies. Gave each of them a 'safe place' to play. I also kept the front door of the apartment locked, so there was no escaping. We lived on the second floor.

I'm sitting here wondering if the infants will be able to scoot backwards down the stairs, or if I'm going to have to place a line of non-crossable tape (from Get Famous) to keep them on the second floor until the adult can escort them downstairs? Of course, that will mean I'd have to remove said tape in order for the family to get back upstairs again. But if the infants can't go up and down, it may be like the Toddlers in Sims3, where they would either sit or stand at the top of the stairs and wail until somebody came and got them. (Or am I thinking Sims2?)

Don't you think the infants might wail loudly, if trapped in the crib all day? How are they supposed to learn how to crawl? Not a criticism, just a thought.
