What do you think of accidental deaths?

I've had a few die from emotions. Mostly the goofball trait sets this off and I have to watch it closely. 

The worst, "accidental" for me was a vampire. I am a rotational player and while I was out  with another family, I get a notification that a vampire from my other  family is burning to death. By the time I found him, he had died. He was vital to the story I was telling, so I quit without saving. Unfortunately for me, I had saved minutes before this all went down. So what happened next was a series of loading into the game, trying to save him, failing, and quitting without saving. I finally loaded into HIS family, thinking I would load into the home lot and then just "bring Sim here". Which also didn't work, because by the time I brought him home, he was still outside and before I could get him inside..... death.  So I had to eventually admit defeat. I was pretty devastated and frustrated and had to rework my entire story. Like why is a vampire outside at 2pm 

I have had only one. In my game, they seem to be too easy to avoid. Warnings are given, time is given, nothing seems a surprise or a shock - except the once, when my sim got killed by the Murphy bed just after that pack was released. I think they nerfed it later when people moaned, to add less chance, make it more easy to avoid etc. Even going tomb raiding or swimming with sharks isn't dangerous. So many things have been nerfed in this game.

The trouble is, when you've got a sim out looking through the telescope and it warns you a meteor is coming, it kind of feels wrong to ignore that warning. It has taken the surprise away, so if you let your sim die anyway it is more like a deliberate act on your part. I want to be surprised. I mean, there is always an option to quit without saving, so why can't they just allow a bit more randomness?

I've only had two sims die in my game by an accident.

 One sim died of embarrasment because his proposal for marriage was turned down and another froze to death. The first sim , I just let him go, Seriously how dumb to be embarrassed to death.

The second sim was swimming in the winter and I never noticed on time. I spent a lot of time bringing her bach to life with ambrosia. it took my game to another level as i had never done that before.

 The rest of my sims die from old age.

I like the accidental deaths and for the most part accept them. The only time I quit without saving was when my Sim bride died of laughter on her wedding day while I was micromanaging something about the ceremony. I didn't even realize she'd gotten overly playful, so I had to quit and start the wedding over.

I once was playing a Thor Sim and he died by electrocution trying to fix a dishwasher, which I found hilarious and ironic at the same time so I kept it and let him be a ghost in the game instead. 😄

Well... I try to accept the accidental deaths, but there were two times I quit without saving 😅 The first one was when I was playing another family and my superstar Sofia Bjergsen froze to death. I didn't want to lose her and her dog, so I quit.

The other one happened yesterday when I was trying to complete extreme sport enthusiast aspiration with Morgan Goth (nee Fyres). It was freezing outside and she was in her sport outfit and walking oh so slowly to the bathroom. I tried to make her change her outfit, but the game wouldn't let me and she froze to death. Her husband Ilias Goth tried to save him but it didn't work and I was just so frustrated that I quit without saving... I now kind of wish I hadn't done that and had just made her ambrosia or something, but oh well.

Then the accidental deaths I accepted... The first one was when Ilias' father Conrad Goth caught on fire from the fireplace on Winterfest eve. He died super fast and the game wouldn't let his wife plead or anything. It was very dramatic, but after the shock I actually loved it 😅

The second one was when Tidy Pancakes was a child and I was playing at the Von Haunt estate. The Knights of the Hedge club gathered there and vampire teen Wolfgang Munch died from the sunlight. Tidy couldn't save him, but later Tidy and her grandmother Elle Pancakes necrocalled Wolfgang so that I could make him join his vampire boyfriend Alberto Caliente's household as a ghost. I actually really like him being a ghost! They live in a big haunted vampire castle in Windenburg 😊

There may have been other cases, but I don't remember them now. So in the end I think accidental deaths are kind of a double edged sword. They do happen rarely, though, so I think I would like to have them more often 💀💀 

I get quite a few accidental deaths in my game but I always quit without saving if the sim in question is a played sim. For townies, I used to collect the urns with the intention to resurrect them someday but then I forgot about them and deleted the lot and with some I forgot who has their urn in the inventory. All townies died from freezing in my game, either from inadequate clothes during blizzard or swimming in cold weather. My played sims died from Murphy bed, drowning, freezing, kitchen fire, one time each. I always exit without saving, because I tend to play single sims and the one time I tried to play a sim after her partner's death she was crying so much that I couldn't play her like that. I think there something wrong with that lot because three of those deaths happened on that lot with those two sims. A townie also froze to death in their pond. I am now playing the reaper rewards event with their household because they need it. 

💀💀 I very rarely have accidental deaths in my save

in fact for most death types I end up having to plot for my sims demise 😅
but I'm kind of hoping this new ep makes difference there
so I won't vote for more before I see all it has to offer 😎

The thing with deaths in The Sims 4 is that most of the time they are warned ahead. The only truly random death is Death by Murphy Bed.

There are some deaths that really can happen on accident:

• Emotional deaths, especially the laughter one. These can come out of blue and sometimes just one extreme emotion animation can trigger the death.
• Death by Murphy bed. This one is truly random and happens more if the bed is broken.
• Death by Meteorite. While being AFK is an obvious one, let's say your sim is at a park or camping on a lot with no indoor rooms.
• Death by Starvation. If your sim is becoming a werewolf, their hunger need does go down so fast that if your sim dies, it truly can be unintentional there.
• Freezing and Overheating. One simple reason: NPC sims sometimes aren't smart enough to keep their body temperature at normal.

So yeah, not a lot of deaths that aren't intentional by the player...

Now how many others want it depends on the player. Me? Well, it depends. I prefer control, but sometimes I'd like some chaos, especially with the death game saves.

💀💀 They happen too rarely

I like that accidental deaths are an option.  But, most of them are a bit difficult to actually trigger & they often come with a warning, so true accidental deaths are pretty rare in my game. 

I've only rolled back a few times, depending on when and who died.  Mostly, it was when it was a clear game glitch, and it was my main character, Erik Cantrell.  I shut off deaths for Neighborhood Stories this go-around. I've had my share of NPC deaths with the prior iteration of my Cantrell family to last me a lifetime. As for Emotional deaths, the day I finally got to experience it, I lost two Sims at the same event. I have since disabled it via the MCCC mod. And rolled back the game to before the deaths occurred. Tried to carry on as best I could but things just went from bad to worse with my unwed Rock Star trying to care for his toddler nephews after the death of their parents.
