I do like the system and I agree that you want to be light-handed with assigning the likes/dislikes because otherwise your sim will most likely have “amazing” compatibility with a ton of people. Currently dealing with that now.
In another save, I made a household of 8 unrelated sims with wildly different personalities. I then let them loose in a small house with limited objects so they’d be more inclined to talk to each other.
It was interesting to kind of see how all the little “cliques” started forming. Sims with low compatibility would kind of avoid interacting altogether. The sims with higher compatibility would try to socialize more often and were even building friendships, though some of it was hampered by them not liking certain conversation topics.
Of course even with “good” compatibility, if the sim was Mean for example, they were just as likely to be rude to people anyway, but it kind of softened the blow a bit.
