Haha, no, I won't protect them by adding them to the family. My Sim turned them in FH and watched when they converted (the camera goes to them automatically when they convert). Three of them turned in the daylight sun as I watched. Instead of leaving afterwards, someone would always come up to talk to them, so they stayed there standing in the sun. I watched them sparking, but I wanted to see what the game would do. They eventually left, even though I held my breath thinking they would soon burst into flames and die.
When I next saw those three, they were fine, except one who was still having moody after-effects. The other two of the five converted in the evening and I haven't seen them yet, but they are still very much alive in my relationship panel.
So although I know any vampire can suddenly demise, no matter who it is, I think these are protected for a certain purpose (the aspiration?). Hard to say, as the whole point of this vampire pack is the suspense it brings to the game, right?
