What does the sims future hold?

With the way things have been with sims 4 for the past 6 years, I no longer have high expectations for the franchise. If TS4 was supposed to be an online game it must have been expensive to cancel that part and re-invent the game as an offline single player and a lot of development time was lost. What we perceive as deficiencies in TS4 may be due to shorter development time, or having to make do with components that were already available and needed to be used. Maybe the decision makers at EA are having a bad case of trying to fit a square peg in a round hole type of situation and trying to fit the sims into what they perceive it should be as a game, hence the never ending attempt to make it multiplayer, online, selling furniture and hairs by the piece, etc. TS5 could be better, if it returns to its roots, or it could be more of the same.
