I admire your restraint! My mods folder is currently 2.6 gb. I have a small problem.
I can't remember how large my Sims 2 folder ever was, since that's been such a long time ago, but I remember I had around 14GB of mods and custom content for Sims 3, and for Sims 4 my high point was 8GB.
After Cats and Dogs, I slowly decided started shedding custom content, and then this past year I decided if I was ever going to play again long-term, I had to end a lot of my dependency on mods. I just want to be able to patch and play and not worry about mods breaking all the time.
I actually decided to let go of MC Command Center after all, and that was tough, but I found pretty quickly I just wasn't even using the little bit I had installed. If I need an autonomy mod, I'll find one or I can just make it myself, so there went Tuner, and after several Sim weeks, I wasn't using Dresser, so the whole mod suite went.
I've found I actually really like playing this way and after some getting used to it, I'm happier with the way my Sims and lots look. I did keep my default eye replacements though. I tried going without those and it's absolutely a no can do. Same for the interior lighting mods I use (Into the Light and Out of the Dark) and my ReShade preset. Some things are just essential.
