I just got a new laptop for Christmas. Unfortunately, it was a gift from my dad, who knows nothing of tech (no offense, I told him to ask my bf for help if he went the laptop route, he didn't) so he goes to best buy and asks if this particular laptop is good for playing games. The sales guy apparently said ".....uhh... What kinda games?" My dad says, sims. Sales guy: "so not call of duty? Then it should be fine."
So i dont have high hopes for the thing. I wanted like a good gaming laptop... Even if i do just play sims and not cod.. I have everything on medium. I know nothing of tech either. I have draw distance on low (I dont think i need it personally), and all the other options like post processing, edge smoothing, and laptop mode all unchecked. Idk if my laptop can handle anything higher and I'm scared to check lol.

I think this is it
The problem with asking the sales people at a store like Best Buy (or any electronics store) whether or not a game will play on a certain PC is the fact that they'll almost always say "Yes"... mainly because they'll do anything to actually make a sale... but another problem is the fact that ANY computer can technically play any game (even something like Call of Duty)... the only problem is how well it'll run and which settings it can run on.
So, yes, your laptop can technically play The Sims 4... but probably only on the lowest settings. Also, it can't be promised that it won't crash every 20 mins or so. But yeah, if you can even play for just a few minutes before it crashes, the sales people technically didn't lie. They just never mentioned how well it would run.
I work at Staples... not as a tech sales associate, but I've witnessed the tech associates completely make up stuff just to make their sales happen. And because most customers who come in the store don't know much about computers themselves (hence why they ask), they always fall for it.
Yea, I'd believe that hah. But anything is an upgrade from what i had, and it runs beautifully so far with medium/high graphics, i actually turned them up and it still runs good.
