What hour do sims age?

In the past my sims aged at midnight. Now I wanted to age them, but nothing happened to their life span indicator. A daughter who aged up to child at 6 PM (from cake) should have a minimum of green in her child-teen life bar at 3 AM, right? Well, the bar is totally empty...

Did this change recently? Can anyone confirm that sims do age at midnight, still?

Aging is on for both played sims and unplayed sims btw.

  • I can confirm that for an active Sim who did not just have a birthday, it counts up at midnight.

The green bar represents days, I'm pretty sure, so it shouldn't show green until 1 has elapsed. The day of a birthday it wouldn't have filled in for their previous lifestage until that midnight, so, despite you using the cake to age them up earlier, logic seems to imply that it should not get any green at all at midnight on the day of their birthday because that day was part of their now-passed lifestage. It should increment for the first time at midnight the following day.

I keep forgetting to pay close enough attention for 2 nights in a row after a birthday to be sure how it works though.
  • Sorry to hijack post, but I can't start a new topic because I haven't posted enough in 12 years to qualify (!)

I let the latest update install last night and it has broken the ageing in my game. I play by rotation and even with auto-ageing off for non-played households, they are all suddenly ageing - elder sims are dying, toddlers are suddenly children, and I'm scrambling to restore from old backups. Now I can't play at all or I'll lose all of my families to old age. Is anyone else having this problem? (Mods and scripts are currently disabled).

No worries, m8. We've all been there.
Updates have a tendency to change some of the settings of my game...which is really annoying. I've had issues after an update that caused much consternation because of that as well.

Thanks! Still learning something new after all these years! What you say is that a sim's green life bar might not get affected at midnight because it happens at the time of day when they were born? One adult sim is half way through her adult sage and there was no change at midnight, but it might be because her change is set to another time of the day, not necessarily midnight?

Confused, but as long as my sims age it's all fine. I will check back on that household after playing elsewhere, to see if the change in her bar just needed a few more hours to visualize.

Added: Aging is indeed more dynamic than I though! I checked back on the household and the child actually has got a tiny green field in her bar! It's only 5 AM, so things obviously happens during most hours. The adult has still no changes, though.

I play with aging off and turns it on for only New Years Eve. I must now make sure that it is on for as close to 24 hrs as possible, not just 2-3 hrs around midnight, it seems.
