I am sure they can do it.
I just have no clue if they can without breaking all the savegames.
They said that making apartments buildable outside of where they already are would require a patch that would inevitably break all savegames.
Forgotten Hollow has longer night than other worlds. The code for it allowes modders to change the length of day and night in all other worlds without breaking savegames.
In that case then, they should've used a decent engine that could handle things like that without breaking saves. They managed it in the Sims 2 (buildable appts and weather) without breaking saves. We know from the eye watering amount of bugs and problems in this game that the engine is obviously not up to scratch for this kind of game, which is terrible and there's no excuse for it IMO. I've heard that a lot of EA's own in house game engines are dreadful so it's not just the Sims that's a victim to this.
Not true, The Sims 2 Apartments do break saves. It's very common that any lots that weren't originally flat to begin with, will eventually break saves.
The Sims 2 engine also struggles with Weather, and they even admitted that Weather was removed from The Sims 2 base game because of performance issues (which still happens in the final game anyway) and the game has issues with lag and the fact that it looks like it's raining inside still.
Rose tinted glasses.
Also, Apartments in The Sims 4 are part of the world. Not a "lot". That's why. They can't go back and edit the previous worlds by shoving a building on it. It's just not possible to add a skyscraper to the world when there is no room.
They have confirmed that if we got Sims 2 style units/townhouses (which they have confirmed may come later) that we would be able to build them ourselves.
Skyscrapers? No.- atreya338 years agoLegend

They already said Seasons is possible in all worlds, so I don't know why this is a thread. Lol.
Thats good news. :) Now we just need the to say they are actually planning to make it happen. "jackjack_k;c-16220530" wrote:

Since there is confusion about that, do you have a source of your statement? This tweet Neia posted comes closest, is that what you’re referring to? Or did they say more about it? Since it is the subject of this topic and people clearly aren’t sure about it, I think people would love that confirmation.- I thought they also said they can’t make changes to existing worlds without breaking saves.
I wonder which it is. Can they add weather to all worlds without damaging the existing structure? Or is it merely theoretical?
From what I understand:
1. They can make changes to all worlds
And
2. They can’t make changes to all worlds without breaking saves.
In other words, anything is possible and it can be done. But should it be done?
Very curious to see how this one pans out. - @JoAnne65

If I remember right, they never said they can't make change to worlds. It was in a specific context, about changing the lot composition for example, which probably excludes landslide or canyon forming in the existing worlds and moving the lots, but the four seasons have never changed the size and the position of my home lot irl, so I bet my immersion won't be broken if they don't in Willow Creek either. They would have to build different terrains to allow Sims to swim in an ocean like WB. I don't think they would do it and then they have said changing things in neighhborhoods could break saves. Their idea may be FX snow and not playable snow, we don't know. I don't think they would just make snow FX so existing worlds could have snow etc. but this is TS4 and they've made some weird choices I didn't think they ever would...like more of a mobile game than an actual multi million dollar pc game."Cinebar;c-16221141" wrote:

TS2 Seasons didn't have swimming in the ocean, so it's not required to make a Seasons EP (and I think TS2 Seasons was awesome ;))"jackjack_k;c-16220530" wrote:

Because TS4 choices have been weird up to this point. Apartments in only one town/city. Festivals in only one town/city. Darker skies/different stormy clouds only in one town/world. Collectibles only found in certain places in different hidden worlds/ or towns. Fish in only particular hidden worlds. I can see it's quite possible snow gets confined to a vacation town rather than in OS..just by the history of TS4 so far. And what I said is only minor examples of how confining it has become and it wouldn't surprise me if 'weather' elements aren't everywhere. ETA: I made the thread so people could vote now, so Maxis would know most would not want a different pack for every 'season', but in all existing worlds in case they are even thinking about it.- SerraNolwen8 years agoSeasoned Ace@Cinebar Sorry, I just saw your quote. I probably shouldn't have tried to go for a shortcut. I'm aware there is sometimes rain in a desert. It just would be strange if Oasis Springs got as much rain and snow as other worlds like Windenburg. I just hope they manage to keep the worlds somewhat different if they add in weather and seasons.

It didn't need to add them then, we already had the ability to swim in our ponds and lakes as long as you understood how to build terrain around it to keep them from swimming across the lot. :) ETA: TS2 Sims could swim in water terrain paint.
