What is a Salaryperson?

I've been muddling and musing and compiling a number of Sims lists; including one of the available careers.
I note "Salaryperson" introduced with Snowy Escape and realize I've not played this career nor do I even really understand it.

What/Who is a Salaryperson ?
  • I believe it is just a different type of business/office worker like salaryman working 9 to 5.

From Wikipedia - In Japan, a salaryman (サラリーマン, sararīman) is a salaried worker. In Japanese popular culture, this is embodied by a white-collar worker who shows overriding loyalty and commitment to the corporation where he works.
  • EVERYTHING TO KNOW ABOUT THE AWESOME SALARYPERSON CAREER IN TS4

Have you wanted to get your sims involved in the Salaryperson career but you have no idea where to start? If this sounds like you then check out this article that tells you everything you need to go about being a Salaryperson!

The Salaryperson career was introduced in The Sims 4: Snowy Escape. Rather than focusing on a western business structure, it focuses on the one you would usually see in Japan. With this career, you will need to have experience in logic, writing, programming, and charisma skill. Some of them, however, do depend on which branch you decide to choose.

  • This is interesting — I’d always wondered about how/why it was different from a business career too, but had never bothered to look it up. Now I know :)
  • And here I thought that a person on Salary got the same pay every check, despite how many hours they worked, whereas a person on hourly had to work the full eight hours in order to get their full pay. :open_mouth:

And to be honest I don't think I've ever seen that name for an occupation. I am going to have to go back and take another look.
  • @GalacticGal here in Canada and probably most other places that is how a person on salary is paid. I actually hadn't noticed this career option either but seems it is a designated one in Japan.

PS: I didn't like working on salary. Seems they forget about overtime when they do that.

This is the only career added in DLC that doesn't have a work from home option.I suppose this reflects the Japanese work ethics better. But I miss the work from home option so much that I never play the salary person career.
  • I like that career and use it often, it's a job which feels like a almost normal rl career path in a company, without getting too fast to the top position or became the owner of that company or other strange job titles. The position titles fit together. Just the job events feels strange sometimes. But I like it, when the sims bring some guilty food at home for working too late.
