The word “fan” or “true fan” should not be taken too lightly.
A fan is a fanatic. Within the context of Sims it’s a person who through their behavior expresses an extremely high level of enthusiasm for the franchise or a specific game within that franchise.
A significant part of a true Sim fan’s life is dictated by the game. The game takes priority over other things because it simply is what makes that person tick on both a conscious and subconscious level. A true fan will not only make time to play the game as often as they can, but they will most likely try to understand more about its concept, its history and its future.
That doesn’t necessarily mean they’re happy with just about anything that’s been handed to them, however their extreme passion for the game itself will always give them enough energy to praise it, to ask for more and to ask for better because they need it to survive. The “survival” of the game will make it possible that they themselves survive, emotionally. That’s how important the game is in their life.
It doesn’t matter how a fan or so called “true fan” expresses that enthusiasm. It can be something they keep to themselves, although many fans will very likely feel the need to lift their energy and that of others by sharing their own enthusiasm for the game with like minded people.
