What is the best career for these traits?

Good, Ambitious, Materialistic and High Metabolism

Doing the CAS quiz assigned him to the secret agent career with these traits but, he's woefully unhappy with his career (at least in my mind) so he really (meaning me) wants to change.

I'm thinking he would do good as an athlete but is there something better?

Guides list traits by jobs, not jobs by traits so it's extremely eye-staining to try to go through the massive list of jobs to find if the traits I have match that job.

Also, is there a job generator out there where you can list your traits and it suggests the best jobs? That would be amazing!

  • High metabolism just means it's easier for him to keep trim without working out as much, it's not a personality trait that gives him satisfaction from being active. I wouldn't consider that in picking a career.

Politician is a semi-active career. That means you can pick a telework option instead of going into work. I think politician, especially charity, would work well with the good trait, also ambitious, but I don't know if it would do anything for his materialism.

Stylist brings in good money so he can buy lots of material things, and you're helping people look good, so I think it ticks all of the boxes.
  • Work from home isn't the same thing as active career.

Active career = you travel to the work lot with your sim. Acting, doctor, detective, interior decorator etc.

Work from home career = you get a pop-up one hour before your shift that offers the options "Go to work," "Work from home," "Take PTO." If you choose the work from home option, you're assigned one or a few tasks to accomplish. When you accomplish each task you get a portion of your day's salary and your work performance meter goes up. If you leave tasks undone you get less or no pay and your work performance meter goes down.

Both active and work from home careers offer the option to go to work on their own (as a rabbithole) anytime you want. That's helpful for situations like yours where you would want to choose each day which sim to spend more time with.
  • Thank you all so much for all of this information! You've actually answered several questions that I didn't quite know how to ask so never did.

I didn't realize fast metabolism really did so little. I mean don't get me wrong, I love something that keeps my sims looking good but another trait there probably would have been better.

Thank you also for the distinction between the different career types. They make sense now. So I'll be referring to this often when I start to get mixed up again.

As for the career "Stylist," I don't think I've done it either but yeah, making mad money would be good especially with a snob wife and materialistic husband. I'm sure (hopeful) that their entitled children will have similar traits. ?

I still don't know what to choose since you're all giving such great suggestions. So yeah, same problem, different reason. ?
  • Back in old Hollywood, there was a fashion designer named Adrian married to an Oscar-winning actress named Janet Gaynor. Everywhere Janet went, she would out-glam everyone because she was wearing the latest Adrien fashions. The idea of a stylist husband married to a snob wife kind of made me think of that since he could make sure she was always in style.

Good point. So I think Stylist it is.

    Thanks everyone!
