What is the best food item to keep in your inventory to fill you up?

I dont have time to stop and prepare food often. I usually eat 3 apples to fix my hunger need. Is there something better that lasts longer after eating it?

Do sims eat the food in their inventory on their own or do they always choose the stove or fridge? Anyone know?

    Stove or fridge, always. :(

That is a good way to be yelled at for inappropriate behavior at other Sims homes: seriously, there needs to be a player prompt if there would be inappropriate behavior. Also, they NEED to fix cooking club behavior when it meets at a club member's home so that it is never inappropriate.
There should also be an "Ask for Permission" option to override the automatic inappropriate behaviors.
  • The cheese balls from Selvadorada or the grilled cheese ball thing. You can either go there and buy them from the vendors or debug them. They never spoil and I believe give full hunger. Otherwise apples. If it's rags to riches or survival type challenge there's always someone leaving food behind at grills or festivals. When another sim orders from stalls just click eat it and you'll get a free meal about 50% of the time. Especially true at Cafe lots and there's always diving for meals at Evergreen dumpsters. Myshuno Meadows has a full kitchen for making meals or sack lunches but they all spoil at the same 8 hours. Canned items don't spoil ever so you can use that kitchen (or get always welcome) with fruits but you'll need other ingredients.

My default used to be produce, but now there seems to be a chance of giving my sims upset stomachs if they eat too much of these.

@mikamakimon this is from a lot challenge - I think "off the grid"

Thanks! I've been playing on and off, and I have been playing off grid for some time that it seems like the norm now, lol.
  • Takes a while and a bit extreme, but my sim is working on the grilled cheese aspiration. Then he can just summon one.

I also thought that was the way to go. But be warned: the quality of the summoned cheese is not good. I have had my sim summon normal quality grilled cheese. Sometimes she even summons spoiled grilled cheese, while she can cook excellent quality grilled cheese on a stove.

I prefer spellcasters who can summon food with magic or the selvadora cakes (forgot the actual name) you can buy from the vendors.
  • Gourmet fruitcake never spoils. It's the type you get from the Welcome Wagon and can be made with the Gourmet Cooking skill. Most sims dislike the taste though.

Sims with various traits can rummage for and eat food from bins/dumpsters.

You can buy a cooler (OR/TS) and carry it around with you. It has a couple of quick meals (Yogurt/Granola) and drinks.

If you have Snowy Escape you can craft Energy Bars and Protein Bars at level 7 & 9 respectively of the the Rock Climbing skill. These don't require a kitchen as they are both made via a self-interaction from different fruits.

  • Honestly, (If I haven't already said), the seeds of fruits and vegetables are the best to keep in inventory as "food". Never expire. You can either buy them or grow them on your lot. Or harvest them on a world map when a particular plant is in-season.
  • I always keep fresh produce in my toddler's inventory and have tham eat that. It avoids the hassle of one parent putting them in the highchair, the other parent taking them out, grandparent putting them back in, original parent taking them back out.....repeat until child dies of starvation.
