This thread is old but something I noticed - If I drag the sack lunch into my Sims inventory, they won't eat it even if they are hungry - applies to both adults and kids. If I click the item and have them put it in their inventory, they WILL eat it while at work or school and come home from work or school with a happy moodlet.
Thank you for this...I have always had my sim pick up their sack lunch and had no idea about them not using it if you drag and drop."ChampandGirlie;c-16284695" wrote:
The sack lunch does have a few uses. It gives a moodlet if someone wants it. (If someone is going for a promotion, maybe that will help to nudge them into a better mood). I find it to be pretty useful for the GTW careers because it is an alternative to buying from the vending machine. It's a way for a sim to save a bit of money by remembering to bring a lunch. My doctor/detective sims don't always bring a lunch but most of the time, they do now. You can also turn leftovers into a sack lunch as well which is also cost-effective and uses up leftovers. You have to think a little bit about the freshness of the food because older leftovers won't keep as long during the day in an inventory.
I think it's just another option. I know some people don't care about the food at all. In my case, it keeps things a bit varied.
I agree, the sack lunch is very useful when it comes to GTW! The food sold on their work lots never fills up hunger the entire way and they usually get a negative moodlet about the food they do eat, and it's not worth the simoleans.
Since my post in August, I use the sack lunch option more. It's not only good for GTW professions, but also in Dine Out and City Living. If my sims go to the spice festival or out to eat I will attempt to sack lunch any food I can that is of good quality. Why cook when you can pack it up and put it in the fridge when your sim gets home?
What I really like is the patch that make the quick meals for toddlers available for every one. I like being able to have a ham and cheese sandwich ready when I go to the refrigerator, or have applesauce instead of cereal for breakfast. Makes for some variety, as well as helpful for some players who want some Sims who don't learn to cook for storytelling purposes.
