What is the point of a sack lunch - if any at all?

I sent my teen Sim to school with the first ever sacked lunch I have ever prepared - ever. He didn't eat it - he has a spoiled sack lunch in his inventory. I only notice it when I told him to do...

The only reason I ever bother with those is to get responsibility points. Otherwise I wouldn't, since they'll eat during the day whether you have them or not.
