What is the purpose of these things (from Cats and Dogs)

Question

I was looking through SIMVip and reading up on Cats and Dogs, and came to the section about the things a Vet can craft. Granted some of the items are beneficial, but there are many others such as:

Cooler Than Nitrogen Nutrition Bar - causes Gives pets the "Frozen Mange" Illness
Swampwater Taffy - Gives pets the "Super-Duper Swamp Mouth" Illness

Those are a couple, but there are many other, why in the world would I give a pet those things?

Those are just something silly that they had added to the game to make it even more fun to play, and nothing more.

I think it's an evil vet clinic sort of thing. You sell treats that make pets sick, then the pets come back to be treated. Or if a pet comes in for a checkup, you could give them the treat, thus making more money off treating them. You also might want to make your pets sick in order to treat them and increase your vet skill. Some people might also want to make them sick for storytelling purposes.

Making them is a way to build up vet skill, and you can sell them through inventory to make money.
