Gallery Sharing: It's been a weird roller coaster in terms of how I play this game, but within the last couple years I got more into the idea of sharing my creations because I loved the creative potential of TS4, but always had tons of mods, so I realized I had to strip all my mods from my game if I wanted NoCC uploads. So I started playing with "vanilla" sims, which for many people means base game but for me it just meant no more cool buy mode items, which were REALLY fun to decorate with. I rediscovered an appreciation for Maxis created content and realized there were still countless ways to be creative without mods. So I got into building homes and discovered I was never actually "playing" the sims in the traditional way and was just always getting sucked into new building projects and hoping to get a few hundred downloads at a time and really just connect with other people who were into the same kinds of projects.
Then, I got into a series of arguments with a couple people in the gallery about how I felt about the double standard of accusing people of re-uploading original NoCC artwork all while downloading random artworks off google and taking ownership of them in the game without making an effort to acknowledge the actual artist or source. At the end of the day, I understood they wanted to protect their efforts to create the work, but I still disagreed with it all still hinging on using SOMEONE ELSE's artwork. I got really turned off from the game over it all and wasn't sure if I'd come back.
But of course that didn't last forever. I knew that I too wanted more wall decorations than what the game alone offered, and so I also wanted to create NoCC paintings but find a way to do it that was different from what these other creators were doing so I got to thinking. Quite simply, I didn't want to be a hypocrite and I loved the idea of actually keeping it all in-game. I discovered that because I could run the game on Max settings, the scenery and colors of the game were just stunning and underappreciated. After some testing and a couple of simple, unobtrusive mods, I started taking my Sim around to different locations during different times and seasons and taking "photographs" (technically paint from ref of course). Now I am deeply obsessed with my in-game photography, I have created literally hundreds of scenic wall arts, and am getting to share these with thousands of other simmers!
Though I didn't come here to advertise, I realize that since I've typed that all out I might as well tell you that you can find my stuff using #ItzSpiffy.
