What Job?

I'm curious, what job do you guys do when you play in country living? Or do you guys just run the errands and such? I feel like I haven't decided on a good job for my Sim to have that just gets her out of the house and stuff. I had a retail store, but I don't know, it just seems to take forever for customers to decide to buy something. Any suggestions?

  • Gardener makes a lot of sense and max'd career has huge pay for very little work from home.
  • My sim was working on the interior decorator career before Cottage Living and quit to manage the farm full time. I'll probably have her pick it up again once the farm is running smoothly. Or maybe one of the freelance careers.
  • I played one of the premades and she is a freelance programmer, so she basically only works when she has time or needs money, rest of the time is just farming. I think freelance jobs are good because of the flexibility. You could also work a shop but only on certain days or sell your farm produce on a sales table, or Plopsy or the grocery stall.
  • I play with the premades and usually keep them in the jobs they already have. Cecilia Kang is a freelance programmer which is helpful as she is a single sim and has chickens and a garden to tend to everyday and doesn't have time for a full time job.

I'm playing with the Watsons now. Rhami has a full time job as a style influencer while Thomas stays home and takes care of the farm.
  • My sim's a civil designer, but when she's got enough cash in reserve to live off the interest, I'm going to have her quit the day job and spend more time on her farming and fishing. She might find a husband and raise a family, she might become a crazy rabbit lady who talks to animals all day, anything's on the table at this point.

@ACruelButLovingGod how do you get interest? Do you have to use the vault in Get Famous?

If you complete the "Fabulously Wealthy" aspiration (earn $200,000 in a lifetime and have at least $50,000 in your household funds; pretty easy if you raise your sim to max Painting skill and get the Marketable reward trait), the prize is a weekly payment of 5% of whatever your household funds are. In essence, it's 5% interest on savings. Once your sims get rich enough, that money's a lot more than they'd make at even the highest-paying jobs.
  • All my Cottage Living Sims are unemployed except one who is a freelance crafter. I'm planning to maker her quit her job too, farming is a full time "job" itself.
Maybe gardening career would be okay. I just wish that gardening will be fixed soon, It's too buggy now .
