I play long, with rotational, currently 17 households. Pros & cons to it. Pros are that your sims accomplish much more, have more time to enjoy the rewards of their accomplishments & relationships become much more cemented. Cons-takes forever to get through a generation, your sims do start to run out of skills to master & aspirations to complete, and it can get boring & overly repetitive at times. Also, since I can never bring myself to age anyone up before their time, I currently have 11 families with 3 or more toddlers, 4 of them have 6 toddlers. That can be a pro or con depending on how you look at it (in my case it depends on what mood I'm in), and it's also probably why I'm always complaining about the constant potty training, and why my festivals are so poorly attended, because much of the population allowance is taken up by my tots. But I love it. I don't feel in any hurry to get things accomplished, find mates or even play new content.
