What lifespan setting do you play on and why?

I just modified to extend young adult, adult, and elder by a bit but it's still far closer to normal than anything else. I can't imagine playing short - even on normal the young adult phase feels like it goes too fast. My sim has just been figuring life out, dating around, exploring, then suddenly they're about to age up and having kids would mean orphaning them as teens. I don't want sims that have maxed out all their skills, multiple careers and aspirations, etc. so playing on long isn't for me either. I'm glad I can adjust with MCCC but it's still been tough to work out exactly what the ideal timing is.
