I kinda lean towards emotional deaths because mostly when I kill Sims, it's for the Criminal apsiration that "wishes to witness death" and I feel less like a god making the Sims intentionally do deaths and more like it's something they indirectly caused.
Though, I do use the pool trick if I'm targeting Sims outside of the household because evidently, visting townies work a lot differently.
...but sometimes, I also see the stars lining up for a Sim to die, such as being dazed when an electronic object needs repairing and I think "!!! Do I? Should I?" I usually talk myself down.
