Good. I'd rather have a world with beaches and suntanning, maybe some ball sports, kids being able to play tag and build sand castles than have a calendar to plan when my sim should go out to make a snow angel.
Why are you downplaying this so much? It's already been confirmed we can make our own custom holidays and was even hinted that we can create our very own NPC'S for that holiday and set their behavior. This isn't JUST a way to look at your schedule.
Like suntanning I'd maybe use a couple times before I get bored of it, a Calendar is literally going to be used all the time by ALL of my sims. They chose good priorities in my opinion.
