That's how I feel too. It is starting look that besides Santa there is nothing really gameplay wise. Especially when the calendar is a major feature.
I can't believe calender is a major feature, like literally this is super easy to do and EA tries to find the less exciting tasks to do in very lazy way to not work harder on this EP and make it exciting
A calender is the major feature..i mean lol..i dunno whether to cry or laugh
Any modder can make calender feature in a week it's super easy and doesn't take much coding, I don't get people who excited for this and forget all the awesome things we could do in fall in Sims 3 from haunted house to participating in contests
This is so far from the truth.
Modders cannot do this. All modders are doing is modifying existing coding (done by the devs) and putting it out as something new.
The reasons why Modders do so much that EA doesn’t is modders reuse existing coding and it often brings illusions to games, but doesn’t actually provide new gameplay overall.
If the devs want to bring those things into the game, they want to do it so it’s the best that they can do it.
Secondly, this calendar system has is MUCH more intensive than gameplay items.
Gameplay items fit a Stuff Pack budget, with some Stuff Packs coming with up to 4 new items (eg. Look at Toddlers Stuff, that’s 3 new hugely animated items).
Gameplay systems take a lot of time, and it’s not at all easy. It requires heavy coding and it would have taken ages for this system to be built into the rest of the system.
Adding gameplay items is the easy part, modders can do it if they know how to do basic animations.
Building these systems is the hard part, and why modders haven’t made these systems. You’re giving modders who rework the devs work, too much credit.
But you also falsely believe that new animations and objects aren’t lazy, but new systems are. It would be much easier for them to add 20 gameplay items and call it a day.
They instead worked on the systems to allow us to customise our game further.
