The calender isn't the main feature, the weather and seasons are...
All these things like calenders, beekeeping and the botanist profession are the extra activities they gave us. I mean, it's always fun to have more season-specific things to do, but I think they pretty much covered all the important things (except sunburn, which they apparently want to save for a beach pack, but that doesn't make sense. Hope they patch it in).
I mean, I don't know about you, but I spend my winters and falls drinking hot chocolate in bed and watching movies or reading. We can do that already, unless you want some sort of "Cuddles winter enhancer! Sit on this oversized machine and get the most out of winter by reading while snowflake disco lights dance around your head!" -object.
They did add quite a bit of nice activities in my opinion. This pack adds a lot of things players have been asking for for a while now. Floral arranging, beekeeping, gift-giving, toddler pool that all ages can use, swings, greenhouses, sprinklers, arranging events ahead of time and the list goes on. When you consider that sims can multi-task, we seriously have endless possibilities. The fact that each world has its own climate, is seriously awesome as well. Each world will now actually have pros and cons for living there, which adds some challenge and character. It's also awesome that the weather will have an effect when sims are indoors as well. It adds functionality to fireplaces for the first time ever, it adds realism bc you can make a run-down house supply very little protection against the elements etc. The focus of this EP isn't necessarily to add a ton of new features, but to significantly change how you play the game and expand your options.
If it's not your thing, each to his own. But don't immediately jump on a THIS PACK PLUMS train before you've seen and thought of all its features.
