What pack should I get?

I am thinking of buying a pack after playing with the base game for awhile. My income is limited. I can only buy one pack. What do you recommend?

Edit: I prefer games that are non-occult/paranormal etc. I prefer ordinary human beings.
I have a budget of US$100.
I can afford to wait for sales.

I will appreciate if someone gives me a list of occult/paranormal packs that I can avoid playing so that I do not ruin my games by having vampires/werewolves and some non-human, non animal being come up in my game.

  • I forgot to mention that I would also recommend Cottage Living if I had it for the ability to have farm animals, own your own farm etc.
  • If you like family gameplay: Growing together and parenthood.

If you want farm life and animals Cats& Dogs and Cottage living. C&D also comes with the option to own a vet clinic and you become a vet. Cottage living is also fun for challenges with the simple living lot trait where you have to have all the proper ingredients to make the food you want.

If you want a bit of different lot options for gameplay, I'd say Dine out game pack and maybe city living. I think City living gives the karaoke bar lot type. you can also customize menus with dine out and own your own restaurant (the gameplay part is limited, i tend to just make restaurants for sims to dine at)

As I understand it, there’s a mechanic called MerWoke, that affects an entire household. Once a household is MerWoke, that’s when they start seeing merfolk swimming around with their fins. I actually think this mechanic is the reason why merfolk end up with glitched swimming. Depending on the household, merfolk are supposed to still appear human in the water… this mechanic really does not work as well as intended and that’s why I never said you won’t see merfolk swimming with a tail.

Ay, thanks for this info! I never knew, but my sims hardly ever see fins, so now I understand why it's so difficult to tell whether a random swimming sim is merfolk or not. I don't focus on the merfolk, I still never played them and did not explore the occult bit. So, I obviously never triggered the MerWoke feature ;)
