  • I combine all of these. I find it easy to go between them. I mainly play but I build when I want to or work with the gallery or renovate. Lately if I download, I usually customize building shells for my sims. Sometimes I do build and for more complicated concepts that will take a while, sometimes I look for a gallery download. I'm picky about gallery downloads and have rejected non-functional or overly cluttered lots. Most recently, I downloaded a whole sushi restaurant for Mt. Komorebi because I only wanted to customize the menu and staff outfits then send my sims in to start playing with it. It's a traditional Japanese place though maybe I'll add a hipster sushi bar if I have a lot where I want to place it. I ended up going with the second place I downloaded because the first one had a major routing issue (tiny, crowded rooms and the ordering stand was set in a way that wouldn't function for gameplay). Sometimes I opt to build though.

I'm very comfortable with CAS. I make a lot of sims and easily edit them. I make over all of my born-in-game sims and usually give them multiple outfits. I liked that they inserted a faster way into CAS in the Sim panel. I do think they could probably make the editing cheats easier to access. I know how to use them but newer or more casual players might not.

For gameplay, I play with sims in a rotation and that's where I spend most of my time. I know that some people play this game by making their friends and then making silly or funny things happen to them. I'm not like that, I play a large rotation which I find to be really fun. I experience a lot of different types of play with different households. I'm also always looking for new things to do. I happily fill in a story and go with things.
  • All of it.

The Sims 4 is one of my favorite games I’ve ever invested in simply because I enjoy every single play mode equally.
Since it’s a life simulator I will always ask for more and better gameplay & AI systems, but If they stopped releasing packs right now I’d still be pretty satisfied as I’m constantly doing something creative in the game.

I love CAS, I love Building and I love spending hours making up all kinds of crazy scenarios for my sims in live mode.
I also appreciate the modding community as this game lends itself perfectly for content that will never make it into the vanilla game, but is extremely useful for storytelling purposes.

One feature I do miss is a Create a World / Neighborhood Tool. For me that would make the overall game mode experience pretty much complete: CAS, BB, LiveMode and CAW equals One Very Happy Captain.
  • I love to build and spend a lot of time remaking whole towns to my liking. But all of that is in service of actually playing them with my sims. I love crafting their homes for their needs/personalities, and I love building lots for different sims/families/hangouts to visit. So while it's definitely a mix, in the end it's all about gameplay.

Which as why, even as someone who greatly enjoys the BB/CAS modes of this game, I'm very outspoken about my disappointment in the gameplay mode. And it's also why I spend extra time in BB. Gotta make my lots as interesting as possible for my sims or I'll get bored quick...
  • I've create and edit Sims all the time and before my gameplay sessions, I usually go into CAS to create/edit a Sim or 2. But I primarily play since I like to make up stories, both weird and wonderful and take screenshots of them. I don't build, though. I've never liked/had an interest for it.
  • Majority gameplay focused. I'm not a good builder, and it's not something I enjoy, and whilst I do like decorating houses it's always with gameplay in mind.
  • I put a mix, because I spend a lot of time in CAS and Gameplay, I don't build at all.
I tend to do a lot of experiments in CAS, like creating characters, and some genes. When I am done, I release my creations into my save files to play them.
