What was the point of the reapers reward

I got to try new things I've never done in Sims 4! I've got over 4600 hours and still hadn't grafted a death flower or made Ambrosia. I was playing all my sims with lifespan turned off, now it's on long. Baby steps lol. 

I felt the same way, after getting the recipe and all the ingredients to make ambrosia, I assumed one of the tasks would be to revive a ghost or get spared from death or something tying into the ambrosia. I think it was a missed opportunity to wrap the event up and keep it fun.  I think it was just a part of the road map and a way to get people playing before Life and Death released.

I didn't finish it, but I'm hoping to be able to clone it with that science machine thing and sell it in my shop. That way whenever i am in need for it my sims can buy it.

I will say it wasn't very exciting for me. My main Sim is 5 years old. She has an extensive garden and all the necessary skills were maxed; she could have made ambrosia on day one. She's a vampire with a ton of beneficial traits, so she didn't eat or drink anything she made or that I earned. I immediately sold all the freezer bunnies and tossed the potions. The CAS stuff is kinda cool, though I don't see myself using it much. 

I don't see any of that as EA's fault though. I'm the one still playing with the same Sim 5 years later. It was nice to participate in an event even if it was a bit lackluster. I wasn't playing Sims 4 yet when they had the Sugar Skull or Grow Fruit ones. And hey, my Sim is now best friends with the Grim Reaper!

I thought there would be more of a story there simply because it started out like one, and even though I was a bit frustrated when the event bugged out on me for a while, there were many things I did enjoy.

• I had an incentive to use the séance table from the Paranormal set. I've had that set for years and only ever used the CAS and build items but never the actual gameplay. I'll use it more frequently now with one of my new Sims who wants to know everything about ghosts anyway.
• I loved that I could distribute the various tasks. My main household currently consists of the parents and three teenagers. The mum got to do the séance and most interactions with Grim as well as the fishing. The dad usually picked up the newsletters and did some of the cooking, and the oldest of the three teenagers did all the gardening tasks except the one with the Deathflower because the family didn't have the required plants in their garden. Also, I was too lazy and impatient to bother 😁
• Thanks to the event, the dad finally managed to finish part of his current aspiration. Yay!
• I discovered Ghost Night! This is a bit embarrassing because I've been playing this game for quite some time now, but I never was aware there's an actual Ghost Night at the local bars. 
• I never would've bothered to make Ambrosia if it hadn't been for that event simply because those Sims I care about have familiars to protect them from dying. Still, it was fun to do that at least once.
• I finally got the in-game achievement the game gives you when you befriend Grim 😄
• That bike is awesome! And the collection of freezer bunnies looks really nice on top of the piano.

What the event also managed to do for me: It got me in the mood to pre-order and play the new pack, so... mission accomplished, EA, and well played 😁 

One thing that would be a nice asset for future events, other than testing it properly before launching it: make it optional so those who are not interested in it can disable it. 

I've still got 3 to achieve as they've given me 3 more that I cannot unlock til next week. I've found it very useful as It's allowed me to get 10's in the cooking and Gourmet careers and the Ambrosia in my inventory and I've become a painter of masterpieces, selling to the Gallery. Grim has asked me if I'd like to work for him and my Sim has beaten up several people in brawls at his festival  including one of his apprentices! 

The game is running better than before and I'm enjoying it enormously, not having any trouble with mods as I never play with them.  I think I'll plant that cowplant in the garden next.

Do you end up with the Grim Reaper phoning you and asking if you'd like to work for him? I did.

It did make me do things I'd never done before but I had to concentrate on a single Sim for a long time to achieve them.

I actually haven't been able to play the event since the week before last.  The quests just don't show up in my game any longer, and there doesn't seem to be any way to access them.  So I'm not even sure if I'll get the last two weeks rewards.

I have not played My Sims 4 game in awhile, But Because of the Life & Death Pack & the Reward's Event that I finished, I am loving it & having fun again, so I say Thanks for that. :)

The goal is player retention 😅
