Had you already passed the end of Fall/beginning of Winter before you patched? If so, then maybe it needs that specific time to trigger the fix.
I hope this isn't one of those fixes that only prevents the problem in new saves.
I don't think I did, to be honest. But they are currently generating throughout spring and now summer in my game. Before, they only spawned in fall and were difficult to get rid of, right?
I thought they only spawned in Fall as well. Ugh! What a mess! :s
