What's the purpose of the fire alarm

I've been wondering that myself.

so ea didnt have to take another thing out

Well, duh. It tells your Sim that his house is already on fire and, possibly HE'S on fire, as well. XD Seriously, the fire alarm OVER the stove in my house didn't go off until my Sim was already in flames.

Actually, my sim was well aware both he and the stove were on fire. The alarm pretty much served no purpose at all, as far as I can tell.

The musical chairs thing hasn't actually been horrible, just mildly annoying at times.

But it's been happening enough to distract sims from putting out the fires that could potentially kill them...
