What's the purpose of the fire alarm

I've been wondering that myself.

so ea didnt have to take another thing out

Quite ironic really. Maybe for decoration?

Well, duh. It tells your Sim that his house is already on fire and, possibly HE'S on fire, as well. XD Seriously, the fire alarm OVER the stove in my house didn't go off until my Sim was already in flames.

Actually, my sim was well aware both he and the stove were on fire. The alarm pretty much served no purpose at all, as far as I can tell.

What if the sims are too busy running from demon babies and playing musical chairs to know if a fire going on lol

The musical chairs thing hasn't actually been horrible, just mildly annoying at times.

Well to be fair in my experience with The Sims 2, it exists to just wake up my sims and have them catch on fire in a mere amount of seconds just by running through or standing directly on the fire..
