Not because of the space, or the lot traits, but because they feel like an actual city playing in. It's the more city like neighborhood we got, everything else, looks like it was taken out of a utopian future city. All the other apartments are in some strange above the ground platform and I like seeing the bridge and the train pass by too.
The thing to remember is that the history of SIms is very Utopian. I don't know if you are old enough, but the final buildings in Sim City 2000 looked VERY similar to the super-high-rise-with-other-buidlings-on-them that you have in the upper districts in the city.
When it comes to neighborhoods I would say I LOVE the spice district. It is definitely the area I would love to be in if it was real. All those cultures and stuff.
But I LOVE those two apartments in the Fashion district; the one with the Karaoke gang in it and the one next to it.

I guess, but as someone who loved Hot Date and Nightlife's Downtown, as well as Belladona Cove and Bridgeport, San Myshuno doesn't really satisfy me as a city. It doesn't give me the whole urban feel and atmosphere.
For me it's the other way around. San Myshuno feels much more like an actual city than Bridgeport. A smaller slice of it, but definitely more genuine. Bridgeport felt like a movie set. S M's neighborhoods feel like actual urban areas.
(I do feel like ALL areas have a much more genuine vibe in S4. Even the two default worlds feel much more like actual places than the worlds in Sims 2 or 3). - Beardedgeek728 years agoSeasoned Ace

I wouldn’t say utopian. SimCity definitely dabbled in science fiction, especially with those bio domes you linked a picture of. Personally I see no similarities between the image and Sims 4. Sims 4’s city is ultra-modern with a futuristic design that defies reality. The bio domes in the pic are futuristic but more mechanical and less modern.
They were also only one kind of many, some with a specific three-legged design that I get reminded of every time I see Uptown from afar in San Myshuno.
(Also the game was made what? 1992?) - Lucy_Henley8 years agoSeasoned AceI have a family living in Torendi Tower, but I think I bought it unfurnished as it didn't come with talking toilets or a basketball court. I do like it. I haven't really used that many of the apartments. That family started off in 1312 21 Chic Street Apartments (the one with Lively Neighbours). In another save game, I had one Sim move out from Willow Creek to that same apartment, then I moved her family to 2B Jasmine Suites (opposite the Bheedas). In yet another save game, I have a couple in 2B Jasmine Suites, as it has the On a Ley Line trait which I want to utilise for when they have kids.
I really like San Myshuno and the different festivals, and being able to go and buy food. I used Sims 2's Downtown, but I didn't particularly like or dislike it. I never used Belladonna Cove. I did quite like Bridgeport, but it was weird how it had the city bit and the suburban bit. I had glitchy issues with all the hoods except Sunset Valley and Appaloosa Plains, so I tended to create my own custom clubs in those worlds. - The Alto Apartments are my favorite place for my Sims to live hands down. Nice huge open space with plenty of room for everything and all on only one floor. :)
- kuhpflanzen8 years agoSeasoned Acei like the spice district apartments. i wish we had gotten more of those brownstone buildings instead of the weird futuristic buildings.
- Cynna10658 years agoSeasoned AceMy favorite neighborhood is the Spice District. However, my favorite apartment is 702 Zenview. The size is just right for a young family. It's a duplex. Plus, it has outdoor space with a slammin' view. I wish that there were a couple more just like it. <3

Brownstone is very American though. With the exception of one or two apartments, the rest look far more like what i call "normal" apartment buildings", while the brownstone ones look like copied from an American move or sitcom. - akl12268 years agoSeasoned AceAnything in the spice district. I love the atmosphere there and it has the best scenery.

is that supposed to be a bad thing?
i just like the aesthetic, it reminds me of new york. the futuristic buildings on top of giant platforms in the sky don't remind me of anywhere.
anyway, as long as they had kept the apartments on the ground in an actual realistic setting i would have been fine with any architectural style. (..but i especially love brownstones) - Beardedgeek728 years agoSeasoned Ace

My point was that if you're American, Brownstone feels "city" to you. To me? Not so mutch, it feels more "Friends" or "Cosby".
