I use a variety of writer's handbooks that cover names from various countries and centuries from my own personal library - if need be on occasion, but most of the time I chose names I already know as I am fortunate to know a lot of people. I generally try to match the look and traits of the Sim with a close enough real person. If that does not pan out - then I determine what country the Sim might be from and look at names in my book from those countries until one clicks. I honestly have to say I have not used my books as a source at all in Sims 4 - but used them often in Sims 3 as I played many eras and worlds that look like various other countries so I really needed the books then. That need does not exist in the Sims 4 - yet anyway. LOL. In this game thus far the sims I made myself are based off of people I know.
