I like passing down similar sounding names in a family, derived from a grandparent, distant relative or honored mentor. Jacques de Villareal's grandaughter is Jaqueline, for example and if she gets a brother he'll most likely end up being Yukimura (Yuki Behr is the mother).
I also have an old baby name book on my desk that I consult in case I run out of ideas. The book has some real old-fashioned danish, dutch, german, russian, slavic and biblic names that fit the wacky sims world surprisingly well. There's times when my sims have a different background and I need to google or just make up something, but the book is my first go-to.
