I have found myself all the way back since Sims 1 often naming my sims with realistic but odd names. Especially names that implies nationalities that aren't really common among sims.
Two cases from Sims 4 is my french vampire girl and my greek jungle adventurer (well wannabe) girl.
But I tend to do this in most games where I can name characters: I can spend like 30 minutes on a site for Afghan baby names or something to pick up a name that is both real and sounds "cool" or at least fit the character in question.
