When Do You Decide To Age Your Sims to the Elder Lifestage?

I tried playing on normal lifespan, but was so sad when my founder's husband died that she's been living off potions of youth. My current save has aging off, and I've stopped playing because there are three generations of Sims that are young adults and adults. o.o Hopefully the new pack will add something good for elders, so I can age the grandparents up to elders.

Does anyone remember the canes from Sims 3? I loved setting their walk styles. So many Southern Gentleman elders strutting around...
