- I don't play centered around real life seasons, my sims had Christmas in July :D
- NateWhiplash5 years agoSeasoned VeteranMy answer comes with a catch. I am incredibly lazy about decorating, so the day before Winterfest I'll get them the "attic stack" box, a tree (which goes in the front yard) and a large "pile o' presents"---once they decorate, those decos stay up year round, as does the tree in the front yard lol
- DaWaterRat5 years agoNew VanguardMy sims celebrate Winterfest when it shows up on the calendar. I never do anything with my sims specific to the real-world calendar.
Besides, if I did, I'd still be in prep for Spooky Day. - Kathykins5 years agoSeasoned NewcomerThey get a tree and a stack of presents on the morning of Winterfest, then I click the attick stack box and put up decorations. They have a grand meal (usually left over from Harvest fest) and talk to Father Winter when he arrives. I let them open presents a couple days, then put everything in family inventory until next Winterfest.
I don't do anything special for my sims when real holidays come around. We don't have Halloween or Thanksgiving in my country. Although, Halloween is spreading more and more here, because its a good opportunity for stores to sell candy and costumes for the kids. But traditionally, we don't have those holidays, not even Valentines day was that big until some years ago. We have Easter, Christmas and New Year. And of course our constitution day in May. - Kimmer_one5 years agoSeasoned TravelerI celebrate it when it's Winterfest on my Sim's calendar. Before Seasons I celebrated Christmas on my game during the actual Christmas, but now when they have a calendar it's different.
I don't want to add an extra Winterfest on my Sim's calendar, for example in the middle of summer, just because I happen to play the game on Christmas. It's not that important to me. - I don't celebrate anything, not national or religious or bank holidays or something from another country that is older than most countries on this planet. It's a shame about how jaded i am about all that though, it would be nice to celebrate pancake day once in a while or look after my sisters eldest children on halloween. My personal circumstances dictated that path unfortunately.
When December 25th comes, it will be just another day to me, nothing out the ordinary.
As for my sims? they get into the events regularly (mostly because of the satisfaction point reward).
Although i wish the events were more fleshed out like winterfest, the sort of thing where a child would wake up impatiently waiting to open their presents under the tree, heavy snowfall outside, a nice cozy fire inside, lots of fluff on the walls and on the tree. Father winter who came down the chimney at the start of the day, dropped some presents and left. Main course of a turkey and trimmings at mid day, a christmas cake later on, pulling crackers open and singing of carols. opening of presents, presents your adult sims acquired for their children in knowing what they want and the delight they have opening and getting what they want.
This game doesn't really get into it in the way you hope for. The type of special time where the entire family comes together to enjoy each others company and the seasonal event. - I deleted all the holidays on the calendar. Especially "Christmas" because I was tired of all the decorations happening on all my lots including bars and others. And then there was no way to take them off.
I don't use the calendar system at all that came with Seasons......
Wait. I did. I used it to add summer vacay for them so they get time off from work and school. But no requirements. No decorations. No nothing but time off.
I got a little tired of having to call in each day before 8 to stop them from going to work or school. In fact, I don't even play with families with kids because of auto-school. - simkitten875 years agoNew Spectatorwell they always celebrate winterfest. least i try to in most files. but once in awhile sims have other plans and cant celebrate. but as for me personally getting ready to play christmas time in the game. i do have a special save that i tend to play when i get those holiday moments. im not ready for that. im more into the supernatural spooky vibe right now. i dont even start to think abotu christmas until much later. maybe november, but usually december since novembers are usually spent playing a new ep pack like crazy. so im guessing this year wont be any different. allthough with se it might inspire some early christmas play in my sims world. guess ill have to see when the mood hits.
- OEII10015 years agoNew SpectatorYule is in 11 sim days. I'll have the decorations put out on the 1st of Winter. I moved the holiday to the first Thursday of winter to reflect the fact that the real-world equivalent happens early in the season instead of late. So New Year's Eve is now the first Saturday of winter and New Year's Day is the second Sunday. The first of Spring is now Founder's Day, to reflect the fact that it was the start of the sim calendar cycle.
- It's too early to be thinking about the most expensive holiday of the year. Don't usually start decorating until a few days after thanksgiving.
