I learned my lesson way back in Sims2, to never, EVER, leave my Sims to their own devices. So many reported they were doing this that I gave it a try once. It was the week before Superbowl Sunday. The urge to play my game almost superseded my need to clean my house so that it would be ready for our many guests at our annual Superbowl party. Then I recalled how some let their game run. I decided to play the kids (two separate households full) of university kids from my neighborhood. I let the guys go first. Every now and again I would run into my office to check on their progress, and since I needed one of them to get very high marks, I saved where they were and then queued up what I needed him to do. Checking back in with them, all was well, so I saved again. However, when I changed households to the girls, it proved disastrous. I was in the hallway just outside of my home office when I heard the ominous sound. Running into the room, I discovered the girls had managed to set their kitchen on fire. I was too late to save one of the twins. Needless to say, I did NOT save their progress! After that, I don't trust them.
So glad your little addition prompted the parents to move into a much nicer place, though. I'm guessing you play with the MCCC mod?
