Where did your Sims journey start?
Just starting a general thread as I'd love to hear when people started playing the Sims franchise. For me, I started right back at Sims 1 on a, back then, very powerful Packard bell family computer...

@simsplayer818 maybe that is why I couldn't remember which one had a Pets version just for the console-- because both 2 and 3 had them! 😅 But I do remember that Sims 2 did have a very different console version because it confused me at first. I remember bibimbap was something you could eat on the console version but was not in the PC version!
Yes, the Axolotls in Sims 4 are soooo cute! (Though when I think of a video game Axolotl, I have to think of older versions of Animal Crossing which had Dr. Shrunk who was an Axolotl 🤣)
Yes, some of the jobs in the Urbz were a bit frantic when you got to higher levels, but for me it was the building up skill on the machines that you would place in your apartment that was difficult and tedious 😣 But yes, the soundtrack was the best! Even hearing those songs now makes me think of the game! 😊 And it was so fun to befriend the Black Eyed Peas in the game! 🤩

@LegacySims2017 yes, the graphics for TS1 were a bit different. The stuff from Build and Buy Modes were good, but the actual Sims were atrocious!😅 But the gameplay was still so fun! I remember thinking that the kitchen sink in TS1 looked almost real! And I also agree that the graphics were not the best on TS3, though some people did really like them. However, I loathed the Sims 3 Store where they nickel and dimed you to death! 😖😡 Several bucks for just one measly hairstyle. I had a few points from buying the packs and I would spend so much time waiting for deals, that I missed out on actually playing the game. I hope they never do that again! 😥 Well, I'm glad you could enjoy it though! 😊
Too bad we still can't just remove the pool ladder in TS4 -- it was such an iconic move! Now we have to wall in the pool with no edge just to achieve the same thing. Granted, I usually never try to harm my Sims, but usually people try it at least once in each version of the game, myself included.

@PugLove888 Somehow, I earned points for the Sims 3 store. Didn't really spend much of my own dollars. I did that with the packs. Looking back on the graphics for Sims 1 and 2, I laugh now. But back then as a child, I thought they were neat. True, you can't just delete a pool ladder now that Sims can just jump sit on the edge. I wonder if instead of placing a wall around the pool, you can place other objects. I think the best one I did was have a Sim with little to no skills in a room with a fireplace and place objects near the fireplace that are easily burnable. Then I remove the door and let the fun begin. 👿
@LegacySims2017 IIRC, we got Sims points every time we bought an EP or SP. That is where I got all my points because I didn't spend any more money than on the packs! It just wasn't enough to do much of anything.
Yes, I have done something similar with fire in my game! Its just that removing the pool ladder was so iconic, especially in Sims 2 where Brandi Broke's husband has passed away and there is a very small pool with no ladder on the lot! It was implied that she killed him that way! 😰 So the missing pool ladder is deeply embedded into Sims lore! (Granted, Sims starting fires was very iconic in the early games as well, but not enough for Maxis to have included the lore Easter egg that was in TS2 with Brandi Broke!
When I would play The Sims 1, my husband told me to alert him Sunny the Tragic Clown ever visits, because he was straight up chaotic! 🤣@PugLove888 I'm very much enjoying everyone's memories of the sims1 and 2 soooo many years ago now, I think I was very early in highschool school 😱😱 wheres the time gone!!
@LegacySims2017 I had the very same thing with the graphics, in my head they were a bit blocky but I recently managed to get the Sims 1 on my laptop that plays Sims 4 and I was speechless at how grainy everything is, like albeit it was played on a crt computer screens but it looks so fated now 🤣 and you can't shift click, fill mood 🤣🤣

I have heard that older games look worse on newer screens, so even if the graphics are bad, that doesn't mean they were the same as the graphics we had back when we first played the games. So that might be why the graphics now look faded in the Sims 1, because they weren't really faded back then, so perhaps the judgement is a little unfair, at least in part. 🤔
Ah, that clown was sooo annoying! 😅@DarkLady2788 that is very similar to how I got all the packs for Sims 1 -4, except I started in late 2002. 😉
