When I have a storage box on the lot and I click "put away" on a plate, the sims take it to the storage box. Even if it's a farther walk than to the fridge. I know I can drag food to the fridge with the mouse, but just wondering if there was another solution.
I had the same problem, with toys and food, but only in one household. After a few trial I found out a work around. I place the storage chest with move objects on in a place that can't be reached by my sims. Usually I shrink the chests down in size and then place them on a shelf by elevating them with crtl+9. I can still open the chest and drag items in and out, but my sims can't put anything inside themselves.
