Which expansion pack should I buy?

also I'm starting to lean towards Get Together a little bit as well because the town looks STUNNING, like wow I didn't realize it came with Windenburg

You should check out some Expansion pack Lets plays or reviews on YouTube. You will get to see all content from each expansion. Like CAS items build buy, Gameplay and more. (Those types of reviews help me decide if the content from each Expansion is worth it and will fit my play style.)
Do the research. Its all I can say. Each EP is very different for different play styles.

I have watched LGR review each expansion pack, but I'm still on the fence. I want to hear other people's experiences and opinions. Sorry if I didn't make that clear enough, I can see how you could misunderstand

I don't have Cats & Dogs yet so I can't rec it but I do have the other three and I can definatly recommend Get Together and City Living. I do love Get to Work too especially because of the aliens but the other two are the highlights in my opinion and its difficult for me to choose one over the other because there are dynamics in them that are indispensible.

Knowing what I know now of these packs I'd get City Living because of the apartment life and the food carts along with the new careers that let you choose to work from home if you like. Now, apartment living is NOT perfect if you have neighbours, as they can clash something awful due to noice complaints but you could just evict them.

Get Together is also wonderful, especially the new World, Windenburg which is very picturescue and the island is awesome. The premades living there are also great. The club system is also quite useful. I have started using the club system more and its a great tool to get a Sim to find friends, working on their hobbies or other skills they need and even find a romantic partner.

I for instance created an oldies club where my elders can get together and have some fun and I activated two of the hidden clubs.

Hmm, unless you’re super big animal lover, I would get City Living or Get Together. I personally love Cats and Dogs because I adore having pets, but if pets aren’t a big deal to you I would skip it because it doesn’t add much other gameplay. Now when it comes to city living and get together I would think about what world sounds like something you’ll use most, and if you’re more interested in the club system or if you prefer apartments, new careers, and festivals. Personnally id pick city living because I think it adds more. Oh, and if you’re dying for active careers I guess go with get to work but it’s probably because my least favorite

Personally, I use the game play in Get Together more than any other expansion pack. I use the City Living decorations and clothes more than any other expansion pack. Without knowing your style of game play it's hard to make a recommendation. I believe that just watching LGR isn't enough for you. I think watching let's plays is a great suggestion. I watched a ton of them before I bought laundry day because I was on the fence. I watched a bunch before I bought parenthood too. Most of the people who do them go through CAS/build mode and give their opinions. You can actually watch how clubs work and how apartments work or do not work for that matter.

Thanks for the input everyone! I think I'll go for Cats & Dogs because I always had some sort of pet in Sims 3 even when I wasn't particularly focusing on pet game play. Plus the other expansion packs seem like they would crash my laptop haha

I'd probably lean towards GT first. The club system is a great way to manage your Sims and get the ones you want at the same place when you want, for example if I've had a family and all the kids have grown up and moved out, I'll set up a club so they can all meet up for dinner at a restaurant or at the old homestead to visit the folks. Second choice (or if the sale prices are good enough to get two EPs) would be CL because I love the atmosphere of urban life; the city festivals, the collectibles, and the variety of people. Apartments are handy to move in single Sims (I'll sometimes pair up single Sims from the Not in World households and put them in a 2 BR apartment if I want my Sim to be able to visit them) so you can save the houses in the 'burbs for smaller families. Disappointing that we can't place apartments in other worlds or build them ourselves but better than no city worlds at all.
