My sims most often frequent restaurants. I build my own usually, and the ground floor is always for dining, the basements decked out with a darker and more wicked atmosphere with objects and skill related items to match, while the second floor is a more artsy and laid back environment for social and skill up opportunities with a hotel style room for sims to use if they're tired or feeling amorous. ;) lol
I basically use restaurants as my one stop destinations, as they're generally equipped with everything that would be in any other lot type. Sometimes I do the same thing with Nightclubs, though.
